L290(Squaliforma cf. horrida)

Similar to a large Hypostomus but rather more elongate and dorsoventrally compressed. The grey-brown body is covered with fine dark grey squiggles that are finer on the head becoming more coarse along the flanks. Known as L290 and L291.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

An omnivorous plec that will eat some algae as well as sliced vegetables such as courgette, cucumber, spinach, and frozen peas. Algae-rich wafers and pellets make a good staple diet. Occasional feedings of bloodworms and other small invertebrates will be welcomed but should not be used too frequently (once or twice a week is fine). Mixes well in a quiet community tank but is territorial and should not be kept with more aggressive plecs or other catfish likely to harm it. A good choice for use with midwater cichlids such as angelfish and discus, as well as barbs, tetras, etc.

Family Group: L Numbers
Distribution Brazil
Temperature 24-28C
Size Up to 30 cm
Water Parameters daptable, but needs well oxygenated and well filtered water to do well
