Ambassis nigripinnis(Olive Perchlet)
A small, transparent fish with a distinctively tall first dorsal fin. No differences between the sexes are known. Ambassis nigripinnis is generally assumed to be identical with Ambassis macleayi
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
Peaceful schooling fish. As with other glassfish, individuals will engage in chases and fights, but no harm is done. Tankmates are ignored. As with glassfish generally, feeding can be a problem because flake food is not accepted. Opt instead for frozen foods, such as bloodworms and lobster eggs, or live foods, such as daphnia and brine shrimp.
Not yet bred in captivity, but presumably an egg-scatterer like the other glassfish.
|Distribution||Northern Australia and New Guinea|
|Water Parameters||Adaptable, but avoid extremes|
