Datnioides polota (Four Barred Tigerfish) available at The WaterZoo

12 May 2017

The Waterzoo based in Peterborough have a species of Tigerfish in stock at the moment that is often available. It has a number of thick, oblique bands on the body, but no speckles or incomplete bars in between them. The ground colour is silvery white, though this may become more yellowy or grey as the fish mature. Datnioides polota was previously known as Datnioides quadrifasciatus. This fish can get relatively large and therefore they require adequately sized accomodation. In their natural habitat they are a predator. As long as they are kept with fish of a similar size they are unlikely to be aggressive and at full size they do look very impressive and are well worth seeking out.
