All Rainbowfish are very pretty, but one problem is that when you find them in dealers tanks they are usually young and have not had time to develop their intense colouration. Thes fish are no exception and you will see from the attached photograph that they develop a silvery/greenish colouration
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
Generally peaceful and make good community fish.
Sexing these fish is not too difficult, the males have orange/bronze stripes on the top half of their body in between each scale row which becomes a deeper red/orange in the lower half of the body.
Breeding these fish is not too difficult. The best way to achieve success is to provide the best conditions and await results. The best combination of fish is two males to three or more females. Provide plenty of planted matter, and ideally java moss which is an excellent spawning medium. It sometimes helps to separate the males from the females for a couple of weeks when you should condition them on a good diet before placing them in the breeding tank.
They will scatter the eggs which are adhesive and will hang on a fine thread on the plants. Remove the adults which will otherwise eat the eggs.
