Brochis splendens (coeruleus) (Emerald Catfish)

Ver similar to corydoras, but larger with the significant difference being the size of the dorsal fin which is longer and has 10 to 12 rays compared to corydoras which generally have 6 to 8 rays.
Colouration can vary from an attractive almost emerald green to dull brownish/grey.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Peaceful fish that should be kept in a group.
Breeding is possible and keeping at least two males to every female is a good combination. Distinguishing males from females is not easy, but in general males are a little smaller than females which become more plump around breeding time. Condition the fish on a good diet in order to bring them into breeding condition. If they spawn remove the eggs to a separate raising tank and they should hatch after around four days. Wait until the fry are free swimming after about three days and feed them on suitable fry foods such as baby brine shrimp and micro worm.
