Trigonostigma hengeli (Glowlight Rasbora, Porkchop Rasbora)

A small schooling fish with a distinctive crooked orange band that runs up the back half of abdomen and then horizontally towards the tail; underneath this band is a blue-black marking somewhat like a porkchop in shape, hence the common name. Males and females are similar, but females are noticeably plumper when ready to spawn. Formerly known as Rasbora hengeli, this species has been confused with Trigonostigma espei.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A very peaceful schooling fish Ideally suited to communities of small, gentle species. Appreciates shady conditions, ideally a black substrate and lots of floating vegetation. Dislikes bright overhead light. Water current should be gentle, and air-powered filtration is preferable. Water chemistry isn't critical, but hard water should be avoided. Does well in flake food.
