Hyphessobrycon amandae (Ember Tetra)
A tiny, amber-coloured tetra ideally suited to small tanks alongside other miniature species. The colouration is strongest on the top half of the body, deepening almost to a copper-colour. There are red flashes on the tail fins. Females are less strongly coloured than males. Lively, and despite their small size, relatively hardy and easy to keep.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A peaceful, schooling fish that prefers midwater levels of the aquarium. It is a shy species that will only do well in a tank with plenty of cover (e.g., live or plastic plants) and peaceful tankmates of similar size and temperament.
This fish breeds in a similar way to other small tetras. Soft, acid water is essential. Eggs are scattered on the bottom of the tank and are prone to bacterial and fungal decay. After a few days the fry are free swimming and will accept small live foods such as brine shrimp nauplii.
|Water Parameters||Soft, acid water preferred, but adaptable|
