Aulonocara stuartgranti (Regal Peacock)
African cichlids are still in popular demand and if you are looking to set up an African tank the Aulonocara species are a good choice particularly given that they are not as aggressive as some of the other African cichlids. Aulonocara stuartgranti are characterised by their blue/yellow colouration.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
They live in rocky habitats where the substrate is usually a very fine and sandy. Your tank should include plenty of rocks to give them lots of hiding places. Whilst they are fairly peaceful it is a good idea to only keep one male and two or more females.
They will eat most foods and will quickly get in to breeding condition on a good and varied diet. These fish are not difficult to breed and as long as they are well fed spawning should eventually take place. They are mouth brooders and the fry are generally very easy to bring on.
