L107 (White Spot Plec)
A fairly small species of Ancistrus with a dark body covered in numerous tiny white spots. A good fish for the community tank, this species will eat algae as well as catfish pellets, algae wafers, slices of vegetables such as courgette, and small meaty foods such as bloodworms and chunks of prawn and mussel.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A typical Ancistrus, this species is territorial but can be kept in groups provided the tank is roomy and each fish does not need to squabble over a limited number of hiding places. Males can be distingusihed by the "tentacles" on the head. Spawning takes place in a cave, with the male guarding the eggs until the fry are free swimming. The baby catfish feed on green algae and infusorians.
