Scobinancistrus sp. L253 (Royal Sunshine Pleco)
Typical loricariid in terms of shape, with a brown body covered with yellowy spots. On juveniles these spines are relatively large, but as the fish grows the spots become proportionally smaller. Sexual dimorphism is limited, but males can be expected to have more "bushy" spines (odontodes) on their cheeks and pectoral fins.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A fairly large and territorial, but otherwise peaceful, loricariid catfish. Doesn't tolerate others of its kind or even other loricariids, but ignores midwater fish such as characins and cichlids. A good choice for Rio Xingu communities, or with care, communities of South American, African or Southeast Asian fish that appreciate similar conditions.
Like other Rio Xingu fish this species does best given warm, soft water with a high oxygen content.
