Ambassis gymnocephalus (Bald Glassfish)
An elongate, glassy fish that naturally inhabits brackish and marine waters. Only a temporary resident in freshwater. Best kept at a specific gravity of 1.010 or more.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A predatory fish, will take small invertebrates and fishes, as well as meaty prepared foods such as chunks of shrimp. Also fond of fish eggs and lobster eggs, which can often be bought frozen from stores retailing marine aquarium livestock.
Like other glassfish, this species is jittery and shy if kept in too small a group. When kept in schools of six or more it settles down well and is a lively, entertaining fish.
