Pristolepis grooti (Groot's Leaffish)
Body is deep and robust, rather cichlid-like in shape. Colouration varies from green or yellow, with numerous faint oblique dark bands being visible on the flanks, particularly on juvenile fish.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
Omnivores; wild fish eat insects, small fish, fruits, algae, and aquatic plants. In the aquarium they show a particular fondness for robust live foods such as earthworms, but frozen foods of all types are taken.
Quarrelsome among their own kind, but tolerant of large, peaceful tankmates such as plecs and tinfoil barbs.
Breeding behaviour unknown.
