Tetragonopterus "Camaiu" (Rio Camaiu Tetra)

A large, silvery tetra with a deep body shape. The body has a slightly greenish tinge under some lighting conditions but is otherwise uniform in colour and not marked.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Tetragonopterus are hardy, boisterous characins ideally suited to big community systems. They are highly gregarious and may get bored (and aggressive) if kept in insufficient numbers, but otherwise tolerant of tankmates and an excellent companion for catfish and other South American characins. Looks best in a shady aquarium with peat-stained water. Water chemistry not critical, but water quality should be good.

Wild fish are omnivorous, and in captivity require both animal and plant foods. Algae-based flake recommended, supplemented with bloodworms, tinned peas and small frozen foods. May damage soft plants if not provided enough greens in its diet!
