Colisa sota sp. (Red Honey Gourami)

Red honey gourami have a reddish honey-orange body. Because these colours become more apparent when the fish are mature and settled into their home, they are not usually seen in the fish which are sold in tropical fish stores.

Nonetheless, once they are happy in their new home, they are fantastic little fish! Honey Gourami are generally a very hardy fish and are highly recommended for new beginners and new tank set ups.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Complete peaceful, this fish should either be kept alone or in very quiet community tanks with smaller fish such as neons and rasboras. Do not mix with fish likely to bully it, such as larger gouramis or dwarf cichlids.

This fish is a bubblenest builder, with the male looking after the eggs. The eggs hatch after a couple of days, and once free swimming the fry will take infusoria at first, and later on newly hatched brine shrimp and powdered flake foods.

As adults, they are not fussy eaters, accepting flakes and pellets along with live and frozen foods.
