Anabas testudineus (Climbing Perch)
Hardy, omnivorous climbing perch liable to be disruptive in the average community tank but should get on well with similarly sized but unaggressive fish including plecs and large barbs. Essentially a uniform greenish-grey on the back and sides with a lighter belly underneath.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
Climbing perch can be both rather shy (hiding a lot and appreciating shade) and aggressive (bullying other fish at feeding time). Consider this when choosing tankmates, and only select species able to look after themselves but not likely to start fights: plecs are good companions, while cichlids usually are not.
Can be bred, but this bubblenest builder has not attracted much attention and is very rarely kept.
