Hymenochirus boettgeri (African Dwarf Frogs)

Easily confused with small African Clawed Frogs, this species can be distinguished by having webbed feet on both the front and hind limbs. It is also much smaller.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

An amusing, hardy little frog that never comes out on land. For this reason, it is quite a popular aquarium novelty, and can be kept with fishes that are not so big that they pose a threat to the frog. Also avoid nippy or aggressive species, like tiger barbs or dwarf cichlids. Likewise, very small fish, particularly livebearer fry, will be eaten by this frog. Properly cared for, these frogs will live for many years.

Breeding isn't common in home aquaria, but possible. Because of their small size, sexing them is tricky. These frogs are sociable and should be kept in a group.
