Maylandia callainos (Cobalt Blue Zebra, Pseudotropheus callainos)
Males are brilliant metallic, turquoise blue. Darker blue edges to the unpaired and pelvic fins. Males also have a few yellow egg spots on the anal fin. Females similar to the males but a less brilliant and lighter shader of blue.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
Fairly aggressive for their size. These fish are harem spawners and do best when kept in reasonable numbers with one male to multiple females. Primarily herbivorous in the wild, they should be given a diet based on things like algae, Sushi Nori, vegetarian flakes and pellets, spinach, cooked peas, etc. In the wild found in shallow water rocky habitats and appreciates a tank with plenty of caves and other hiding places.
Breeding biology similar to Maylandia zebra.
