Parambassis pulcinella (Humphead Glassfish)

A new fish to the hobby, this impressive fish has become very popular and is now quite widely sold. It is a peaceful, schooling fish, but rather large and demands good filtration and a strong water current.

Note that despite being a glassfish, this species does not require brackish water, and in fact needs conditions comparable to those preferred by angelfish and discus.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A very peaceful, schooling fish that must be kept in groups of three or more. Once settled down, it is quite bold and will approach the front of the aquarium when the fishkeeper is nearby. Takes a variety of live foods, including small fish, bloodworms, Daphnia, and brine shrimp. Will also take some frozen foods, including bloodworms and lobster eggs. Note that it does not usually eat flake food!

Breeding unknown.
