Beaufortia kweichowensis (Hillstream Loach, Hong Kong or butterfly pleco)

A small, plec-like fish that has round pectoral and pelvic fins that form 'suckers' that in the wild help the fish attach to rocks in the streams it inhabits. In aquaria, these fish often stick to the glass.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

These fish are subtropical, not tropical, fish and do well only in relatively cool tanks with lots of water current and oyxgen! They mix well with fish such as white cloud mountain minnows, which inhabit similar environments in the wild.

Hillstream loaches generally eat algae and small invertebrates. They enjoy frozen bloodworms.

Not yet bred in captivity.
