Channa lipor (Lipor Snakehead)

Relatively small snakehead with a russet-coloured body, pale underbelly, and orangey fins. No apparent sexual dimorphism.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Basic care similar to that of other small snakeheads such as Channa stewarti but the relatively northerly distribution of this species means that it does not tolerate very warm conditions well. Carnivorous and will need to be fed earthworms and river shrimps initially, and chunky fish fillet and seafood once settled. Intolerant of its own kind, but should get along well with large, active midwater fish that enjoy similar conditions.
