Micralestes stormsi (True Red Congo Tetra, Blue-barred Congo Tetra)

An attractive African characin closely related to the nurse tetra and Congo tetra. Like them it is an active, silvery fish with large iridescent scales. There is a vague dark band running between the centre of the body to the base of the tail. The dorsal, adipose and caudal fins are reddish, though this isn't always obvious. There is a prominent coppery patch on the top of the iris.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A peaceful, schooling fish well suited to community tanks containing medium sized species. Not predatory, but could eat very small fish given its adult size.

Basic care similar to the Congo tetra.
