Trachydoras paraguayensis

A compact catfish with feathery whiskers, spiny fins, and a mottled body colouration.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Trachydoras are small thorny catfish somewhat similar to Corydoras in size, shape and personality. They have feathery whiskers that suggest a preference for invertebrates that live on and in sand and leaf litter, but under aquarium conditions they are entirely omnivorous and will eat any small meaty foods, perhaps alongside algae wafers as well for vitamins and fibre.

Trachydoras are traded so infrequently that little is known for certain about their social behaviour or reproduction. They are probably schooling fish, and do seem to be completely peaceful towards tankmates of appropriate size. Being heavily armoured they're generally left alone by slightly aggressive species like dwarf cichlids and gouramis.
