Aulonocara sp. 'calico' (Calico Peacock Cichlid)

Typical peacock cichlid in shape, but instead of being blue this fish is orange with dark blotches across the body and blue flecks on the fins. The proportions of the different colours vary somewhat.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A fairly tolerant community species, like many other members of this genus it is a colourful addition to the Lake Malawi aquarium. It is somewhat delicate though, and very sensitive to poor water quality and improper water chemistry. A maternal mouthbrooder, this species can be bred in the same way as other haplochromine cichlids.
