Alestopetersius caudalis (Yellow Tailed Congo Tetra, Hemigrammopetersius caudalis)
A medium-sized schooling tetra suited to community tanks with peaceful catfish, climbing perches, and cichlids.
The male fish is silvery with white to blue markings on the dorsal, pelvic, and anal fins and yellow markings on the tail fin. Females are similar, but without the markings on the pelvic fins.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A peaceful, even timid, schooling fish. Given its size, it should not be trusted with very small tankmates such as livebearer fry, but this is otherwise a well-behaved fish ideally suited to the community tank. Must be kept in groups of at least half a dozen specimens, preferably more.
Breeding is similar to the Congo tetra.
