One of the prettiest of the Julidochromis species. Availability is good and you should be able to track down some fish without too much difficulty.
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
A territorial fish and consequently plently of rocky decor should be provided in the tank so that there are adequate hiding places to prevent disputes.
If you have sufficient tank space and want to try breeding these fish it is a good idea to buy a group of juveniles and wait until a pair forms. Remove the other fish to a separate tank and condition the pair on a good and varied diet. The male will choose a suitable cave and the female will eventually enter and lay her eggs on the ceiling of the cave which the male will then fertilise. They make good parents although it makes sense to remove them once the fry are free swimmimg and then feed with suitable fry food.
