Pterygoplichthys punctatus (Imperial Ranger Pleco, Janitor fish, Yogi Pleco)
Pterygoplichthys can be identified by the number of rays in the dorsal fin, where there is more than 10 it indicates that it's a Pterygoplichthys. Most other plecos have 8 or fewer rays. The attractive colouration of the juvenile fish changes to a more common looking 'brown with dark brown' spots with adulthood
Fish information (behaviour and breeding):
These catfish are omnivorous, they are quite good algae eaters, especially in their youth. Pterygoplichthys punctatus cam be kept with most medium sized community fish. They are also fine as juveniles but can get boisterous/ territorial as they mature so a single species is recommended to aquarists.
This place will eat any aquarium prepared foods such as flake, tablet, live and frozen.
